"EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION"
LET US ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS!

LETS BREAK DOWN THE MOST COMMON
INDUSTRY TERMS

LFP BATTERY STORAGE
Lithium iron phosphate or 'LFP' Relates to the chemistry of the Lithium battery cell. It is well known to be the most reliable and safest of lithium technology and is commonly found in most high quality home or business battery systems with regulatory approval for installation in Australia. Thieare many Types of lithium with difference chemistry composition between EV Vehicles, power tools and other smaller battery appliocations.
KWH CAPACITY
Kilowatt hour capacity or 'KWH' refers to the battery capacity of your cells. The higher the KWH Capacity of your new system the more power you will have on tap to cover night time loads or even contribute towards daytime loads when solar may be downrated in performance from poor weather effects.
PV
PV, or Photo Voltaic, refers to your solar panels. Photovoltaics (PV) is the conversion of light into electricity using semiconducting materials that exhibit the photovoltaic effect, a phenomenon studied in physics, photochemistry, and electrochemistry. The photovoltaic effect is commercially used for electricity generation and as photosensors.
DOD
Depth of discharge, or 'DOD' refers to the usable battery capacity of each battery module. Generally most battery systems on the market discharge down to 10%, or have a 'DOD' of 90% when looking at data sheets. Some battery modules like RedEarth set a limit at 80% DOD in their battery cells. Lithium does not like to discharge to a 100% floor as this can cause swelling in the cells. Every Australia approved battery manufacturer has multiple safety procedures set in place to ensure the longevity, reliability and safety of your new investment.
EPS
Emergency protection 'EPS' Relates to the systems emergency power backup circuit. This will generally be referred to in Hybrid installations where we discuss providing power to your emergency back up loads during grid loss, these will include things like power points, fridges, water pumps, lighting and more.
INVERTER KW
This commonly relates to the "Kilowatt" rating of the inverter. The inverter size generally dictates how much power you can draw from your system at any point. 1 Kilowatt relates to 1000w of output. A 5kw inverter will provide a 5000w output at its peak.
LET'S TURN YOU INTO A PRO!
We have turned our knowledge into a series of videos which can be viewed by our clients at their own pace. The idea behind the mini series is to provide honest advice and education so you can make an informed decision for your new power solution.
Doing it this way allows you to learn at your pace without feeling pressured. Your decision will dictate the systems capabilities and future expansion options so it is essential that you understand exactly what you are buying. Should you need help with any of the topics we are only a call or visit away and we would be happy to elaborate and guide you to the right solution that best fits your needs.
